When death occurs on the territory of Zagreb, in a house or apartments, the report of death is made by telephone, phone number 92, to the police department, where the basic data of the deceased are given: - name and surname, - age, - address where death occurred, - time of death, - name and surname of person reporting death and - telephone number for contact and arrival of the coroner who has to certify the death.
It is necessary to ensure that the coroner sees the deceased in order to examine the body and prepare the medical certificate if the deceased had a medical history, as well as all data needed for the register of deaths. After coroner issues the "burial certificate" the body can be transfered at a burial place.
If the death occurs out of the Zagreb, in house or apartment, the report of death is made in local health center or emergency aid. If the death occurs in hospital or other institution in Republic of Croatia, in the city or out of Zagreb, the family goes to the department where the person was situated. After talking to the doctor in charge or head of the department, and after getting all the documentation required by health institution protocol, it is necessary to report to pathology department or morgue with clothes prepared for the deceased.
